Spring In the Piney Woods of East Texas

Spring is here but looks like a cold front is headed here tonight. Maybe because of the hard winter, I am not sure, but tree pollen has been at an all time high here at the foot of Lake Livingston.

The KIDS are in a log cabin in Glenwood Arkansas this week with the Hales family. The Cabin is on the South Fork of the Caddo River. We spent Thanksgiving there and it is really beautiful. We hope they have a great time. Our favorite Grandson, Ellis, will have fun playing with Luke and Bryant.

Although we have hundreds of trees on our property, I planted ten more that I received as a gift for filling out a survey. They came in the mail. They were not labeled and I cannot remember what they were supposed to be, so I just planted them to get them in the ground. Seems like there were redbuds, dogwood, and I cannot remeber the rest. If they survive, I will replant to a more suitable location. I can look forward to more tree pollen in the coming years.

Ah yes, dinner plans for tonight. I should have started this blog ten years ago when the dinners were much more exciting and paired with wine. As The Princess & I are on The Healthy Lifestyle Eating Program (I made it up), looks like we will have Perfect Roast Chicken, Brown Rice, Spicy Lentils and Salad of Romaine, Tomatoes, and Green Onions (from Kevin and Ellis's garden). Simple Vinegarette made from White Wine Vinegar, Dijon Mustard, and Olive oil.
The Princess will have her customary glass of Chardonnay and I will have water as I am now self limited to wine, beer, or spirits only on Friday and Saturday, and then only one drink per day.

Thank goodness for Preservino Wine Preservation System.
